I SAW A WEREWOLF TONIGHT

I SAW A WEREWOLF TONIGHT

by John Mountain

I saw a werewolf tonight.

I did not think they existed,

but I saw one.

 I saw a werewolf tonight.

Its coat shone like silver

in the moonlight.

 I saw a werewolf tonight.

It raised its snout, sniffing

the air for its prey.

 I saw a werewolf tonight.

I heard the crash of its paws

on the forest floor.

 I saw a werewolf tonight.

Its jaws open, saliva dripping

from its maw.

 I saw a werewolf tonight.

Its eyes shining bright

like amber fire.

 I saw a werewolf tonight.

She must be beautiful in

her human form.

 I saw a werewolf tonight.

I shall not see one

again tomorrow.

Dedicated to the Wolfman, the Werewolf of London, Lon Chaney, Oliver Reed and Warren Zevon

THE LITTLEST KILLER-A Poem by John Mountain

THE LITTLEST KILLER

by John Mountain

There once was a boy named Ed

The last surviving triplet

The other two quite dead

Choked by the cord

As they lay in the womb

Ed sure couldn’t wait

To escape that tomb

Out of his mother

He came with a roar

His two dead brothers

Dropped out onto the floor

Ed was angry, with a hatred for life

His tiny fist clenched

As if holding a knife

“He’s evil, he’s wicked,”

His father would cry

Burned in his bed

His father would die

His mother tried to love him

But couldn’t bring herself to it

She died by a drill to the brain

While Ed laughed and said, “Screw it!”

“I’m all alone in the world

Mommy and daddy are dead

I must meet more people

So I can chop off their heads

I’ll be just like dear Uncle Ted

And sweet Aunt Aileen.

I cut and I’ll cut

And I’ll rip out your spleen

Freddy and Jason got nothing on me

I’m the littlest killer

For I’m only three!”
