A-Z TRIVIA WEDNESDAY: 30 DAYS OF NIGHT: DARK DAYS

Lillith bathing in blood is a clear reference to Elizabeth Bathory. Elizabeth Bathory was a sixteenth to seventeenth century countess who allegedly killed numerous young women and bathed in their blood in an attempt to retain her youth. She, along with Vlad III the Impaler, is one of the most common historical figures to be re-imagined as a vampire in popular culture.

  1. Good mention! I always meant to read up more on her. I’ve heard people have spun rather plentiful tales based on this icon of the past. Plus the stronger lady vampires seemed somewhat in short supply for while. My original work had some good ones, I felt. We’ll see if I ever get back to those. Lots of personality. After all these adopted characters I’m taking care of, I must confess, I miss my girls. ❤
