First-time director David Fincher disowned the film, citing constant studio interference and actually walked out of production before final editing began. He did preside over a rough cut that became the basis for the ‘Assembly Cut’, a longer version of the movie later released on DVD and Blu-ray.

  1. Aye! The “why bother?” movie of all time! (My spouse says they’re in production of making a sequel to “Aliens” as if this 3rd one never happened. I await the news, but I shall, as always, be cautious!)

    • I actually liked this movie despite its failures. I have always had the feeling that the director’s vision and what actually ended up onscreen were two different things.

      Yes, Alien 5 is to be directed by Neil Blomkampp (District 9).
