Synopsis: One night at a party, a group of friends experiment with trace phenomena – a form of EVP (Electronic voice phenomena), however, one by one the friends begin dying and soon realize a door to a horrific realm has been opened. It’s a race against time and demonic forces to sever the transmission save themselves and prevent the demon from entering our world.
Trace looks like a cross between White Noise and The Apparition; two films neither of which I particularly liked. So why am I interested in a movie that reminds me so much of both of them? Maybe it’s a slow week for horror movie trailers; maybe I have masochistic tendencies; or perhaps maybe I see something in Trace that I didn’t see in the two aforementioned films. The trailer does look a bit hokey; it also has its moments.
Trace stars Nick Fink, August Roads, Jesse Pepe, Maddie McGuire, Samantha Lee, Sam Valentine, Jerod Meagher, Mike Capozzi, Jeremiah Benjamin, and Herion Mustafaraj and it is written and directed by Ryan Brookhart. It’s already available on VOD through iTunes, Vudu and many others and is also available on DVD. Check out the poster and trailer below and enjoy.
