I never know what to say in regards to awards so I will just get down to business.

I have had the honor of having the Blogger Recognition Award (or BRA if you’re into that whole initials thing; with initials like this I certainly am) bestowed upon me by bacardi gold of Ramir Claude King. I would like to take this moment to say thank you for this, bacardi gold; it is much appreciated.

Written in Blood began in 2010 after I read a co-workers religious/political blog and thought that if he could write a blog then so could I.

Two pieces of advice for new bloggers? The first piece of advice would be to keep at it and to never, ever give up. You blog because what you blog about is something that you love and/or feel very strongly about. Keep that fire, that passion, burning within you at all times.

Rule number two: don’t be a dick. We’re all in the same boat in that we are all fellow bloggers. We all need support from each other and not the opportunity to be a douchebag. If someone makes a mistake or says something that you don’t like then be constructive and respectful in your rebuttal. Here’s a good rule: think about how you would feel if someone said it to you before you say it to someone else.

Now comes the part where I have to give the Blogger Recognition (BRA) to 15 other worthy bloggers. I hate this part; in my book you are all worthy. But since I have to choose my choices (in no order) are:

Grumpy old fart

Destroy All Fanboys

Ramrock’s blog

The Telltale Mind

Edge of Humanity

Alex Raphael

Wade Lancaster

RobbinsRealm Blog

Zero Creativity Learnings

All of you do a fantastic job with your blogs and certainly deserve the recognition.

Thank you.

  1. You’ve got an awesome “acceptance speech” of the award. I’ve learned some things about it. It was very inspiring and uplifting. Writing etiquette was a welcome clue. Good day and congratulations!

  2. Well (*beet!*), I’ll try to uphold those standards set (although I kind of wing it most days). Thanks much for the recognition. As better writers and more famous comedians say “Without you, I’m nothing!”
