ALT-POSTR-MONDAY FOR AUGUST 8, 2016

I thought yesterday was Saturday instead of Sunday so I thought I had plenty of time to prepare for ALT-POSTR-MONDAY. This is a rush job so I hope I did alright. Oh, yes I know there are two Batman Returns posters. Again, this was a rush job.

  1. Every single week all of them are great posters. I only humbly pick the ones I like for conversation. This week I pretty much liked them all so it was a lot tougher. I think Alice in Wonderland is great, Baron and that first Batman Returns one I think could be the best. But there’s just something of the 80s kid in me that picks Labyrinth. I guess I’ll go with that. 🙂

  2. Baron, The Witch, Friday the 13th are all great finds. I don’t care for Batman Returns as a movie, but I do like the posters you found. Alice was also full of great color. It might have been a rush job, but you found some great ones this week. Nice work.

  3. You did more than all right; these films are some of my big favourites! Ken Taylor did a marvelous job of incorporating so many of the Alice characters and true to the artwork of the film, which is actually more nightmarish than one might think for a cell-animated feature. Love the icy chill for the first Batman Returns, along with all of those penguins. Then the fabulous mistletoe for the dark-love between our two adventurers in the second poster for the same film.

Jason is looking major gnarly for Friday The Thirteenth. Ah, Labyrinth, so much sparkle and magic, while incorporating my favourite colours. And the two distinct eyes show through even the area that is black and white. Quantum of Solace reminds me of Nagel’s artwork, as some of these picks have in the past. Nice and smooth. As the image slowly came through for the next one I was hoping it was for Baron Munchausen. YES! One of my all-time favourites! It once was my number one favourite but later on “Kamikaze Girls” took its place. The scary fish, the flying prop-boat, the mapped sky as in the film, just wonderful and showing how magnificent that story is.

Then The Dark Crystal. Another big favourite of mine when I was quite little. Took a while for the Baron to one up it in favourites for me. The Chamberlain is seen in all of his wonderful accoutrements and I’m happy to see him this way rather than in the tatters as we usually see him in the film. Grand sense of the ornate for that one.
