FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE TRAILER PARK: BLADE RUNNER 2049

Synopsis: Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

I begin with a confession: I have never watched the first Blade Runner. I have it in my collection and yet I have failed to view it. However, I do know that it is considered one of the most important science fiction films of all time and, knowing that, I also know that fans will be stoked for a sequel after all these years.

Blade Runner 2049 is directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green; it is based on the source material of Philip K. Dick’s “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep”. The film stars  Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Sylvia Hoeks, Ana de Armas, Carla Juri, David Dastmalchian, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, and Jared Leto. Look for it in theaters on October 6, 2017, check out the official Facebook page and enjoy the teaser trailer ↓.

  1. Wow! I’m amazed, I missed this one! Glad I caught it. I have, indeed, seen the first film but I had to get through multiple times of falling asleep, waking up and finding where I’d left off, so my memory of it is likely rather close to what one might have desired a viewer to see. Of course the most wakeful parts I recall are the ones that resembled Iron Maiden’s “Somewhere In Time” album cover (which I know was inspired by the Blade Runner film, of course).

A sequel? I’m certainly intrigued! Thanks.

      • It was just that dry… even for me! But I stuck it out! (Just like I do for Dark Shadows… it’s better now because we have full control of the remote control, entertainment system, and our sleeping arrangements. At my parents’ house it was guess work. In a nutshell? Stress versus fatigue.) ❤

  2. Fans aren’t necessarily stoked for a sequel because how can it possibly live up to it. And yet we’ll be there on opening night for sure. The trailer looks fantastic even if I kept wondering to myself why is the production design so similar for a world set 30 years after the original and I’ve had a good laugh at jokes on the internet about Mr Ford’s T-shirt. Having said all that I like Gosling and Ford and the rest of the cast and the director and the trailer looks fantastic. Soooooo….. we’ll see.

  3. As a movie fan you should see the first one. Great score, visuals, and so forth and so on. I can’t wait to see the sequel. I just hope it’s good. Amazing how many iconic roles Ford has had throughout his career.

  4. blade runner is fantastic . all i can say is Harrison better act better in this than he did in star wars the Force awakens 😊

  5. Oh, man… go take the time to watch the first one, then. It’s worth it even if you don’t like parts. I’m kind of scared 2049 won’t mess up somewhere… but I’ll be nice(r) to it for the moment.
